There is a probability that you would be better to scan normally, and then use the software provided to improve the scan. They have refunded this now so I can buy this again but I'm going to a shop near my work that sells it cheaper.Scanning resolution is up to 6400dpi. I am happy though because I finally have my good scanner! I get through about 50 photos and the quality is amazing, better than I could've imagined! I try using the negative scanner & change the setting in the supplied software and the scanner never works again, Its dead and Epson can't fix it with a 1 hour phone call, I get a DOA number to get a refund from Amazon. The next day the parcel is delivered and is still a mystery as to what happened. When I got home from work it was no where to be found, I had to make a case with Amazon that was going to take many days to investigate. I was sent a photo of it outside my entrance door in a pretty insecure location as proof of delivery even though someone was home to sign for delivery the whole time. The quality of the scans are amazing, It truly does a good job but my delivery was meant to be signed for collection. This delivery seemed to be cursed from the start, I bought this scanner after going through family photo albums and wanting to scan photos in the best quality possible.
